Richard A. "Joe" Young

SANDUSKY: Richard A. "Joe" Young, 68, of Sandusky, passed away after a courageous and dignified battle against cancer at his home July 10, 2013.

He was born December 12, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a student at Sandusky High School and attended Ohio State University.

He was employed by Young & Associates where he was a residential and light commercial designer for decades. Joe had numerous projects he contributed to over his career, although the most significant tribute to his hard work and talents was his role in the development of Green Cove Condominiums and Wild Wings Resort in Oak Harbor Ohio.

Joe served on Milan Village Council. He was a member of Milan Jaycees, Life member of Sandusky Ski Club, and a member of Sandusky Sailing Club where he was passionate in his devotion to the Junior Sailors Learn to Sail Program and the racing program.

Joe is survived by his family: Kristine Young DuPont, Sandusky, Ohio, and her son, Brandon DuPont, Huron, Ohio, Amy Young Wrightsville, PA, Eric & Brooke Acre and their children, Glenn, Adeline & Ava of Clinton Twp., Michigan, Julie & Dirk Fuller and their children, Gabriel, Ethan & Eli of Muskegon, Michigan, John & Denise Robinson and their children, Blake & Andrew of Collins, Ohio, John Sundahl of Sandusky, Ohio. His beloved companion, "Tillie", our gentle giant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda M. Young of 13 years, his mother, Ruth Morris Young, his father, Francis D. "Tee" Young.

A memorial service followed by a reception will be held in his honor Sunday. July 21, 2013 at the Sandusky Sailing Club, Battery Park, Sandusky Ohio. Memorial service at the clubhouse will begin at 4:00pm, followed directly by the reception. Joe and his late wife, Linda will have their cremains placed at the location of their choosing by their family that evening at sunset.
