Robert "Bob" Leonard Nickel
PORT CLINTON: Robert "Bob" Leonard Nickel, 71, of Port Clinton, formerly of Fremont, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born April 18, 1941 in Fremont the son of Robert John (Nickel's Café) and Genevieve (Storey) Nickel. He was a 1959 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He later became a firefighter
for the Fremont Fire Department, where he retired after 25 years of faithful service. Bob was also a charter boat captain for the "Smoke Eater" for 35 years. He was a member of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge
1718 for 42 years, Fremont Moose Lodge 1286 for 37 years, and a social member of the VFW
. His two main loves in life were duck hunting and fishing. He always said his favorite days were, "Good Duck Days." He had a love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Molly. He enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick's Day every year with his friends and family. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wonderful grandsons.
He is survived by Lori Nickel of Port Clinton; son, Robert J. (Tina) Nickel of Port Clinton; brother, Gary J. Nickel of Toledo; nephew, Matthew Nickel; grandsons, Robert Leonard "Bobby" and Bryce Allen Nickel, both of Port Clinton. He is preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Adam Nickel.
Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8PM at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the funeral home.
