SANDUSKY: Anna E. (Eliyas) Koelsch, 90, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, June 24, 2012, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
Born on July 16, 1921, in Coral, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Yurtinus) Eliyas. She had attended Catholic and Public School in Port Clinton, OH. In her earlier days, she had worked at the Erie Proving Grounds in Port Clinton, OH.
Anna enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like family get togethers and a good game of pinochle.
Anna was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church the Choir for many years and the Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Marie (Leonard) Williams, Anne Marie Davis, Patricia J. Notestine, and Kathleen Sue (Larry) Caughell, all of Sandusky; sons, Robert Stephen (Shirley) Koelsch of Bowie, MD, John Michael (Nancy) Koelsch of Salem, VA and Stephen Paul Koelsch of Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one more due to arrive in July; and nieces and nephews.
Anna was the last of her generation. Besides her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. "Bob" Koelsch on October 16, 2006; son, Matthew James Koelsch; sister, Jean Wolfe; five brothers, Joe, Mike, Steve, George and John Eliyas.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 4-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, June 27, 2012, at 11 am at the funeral home. Chaplain Darrell Gant of Stein Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to offer an act of kindness to a neighbor in need in the name of Anna and Bob Koelsch.
