PLYMOUTH, MN: Betty Jane Mills was born in Oakfield, New York on December 23, 1927 to Claude and Harriett (Smart) Mills. They moved to northern Ohio in the Lakeside-Marblehead area (Port Clinton) near Lake Erie.

Betty attended college and became a Registered Nurse. She worked for several years in the area, caring for her patients as well as for her father after her mother passed away. She married Dale Reitz and had two boys, Douglas and Dennis.

In 1965 she married Alton Ray and lived in Bellevue Ohio. When the opportunity arose for a career move to Minneapolis in 1972, they took the leap and moved. After that time, Betty worked full-time as an office assistant for Alton's sales office, and helped to build the territory's revenue. She found time to join a bowling league and had many years of fun and success. She also took a ceramics class, and some painting classes where she discovered that she enjoyed painting landscapes, the family dog and even a panoramic pastoral mural on the wall of the billiards room.

Betty was known to all as a very friendly and caring person, and had beautiful blue eyes and smiled easily.
