David Kopchak Obituary
He was born April 1, 1963 in Sandusky, the son of the late Andrew and Inez (Chura) Kopchak. He was a 1981 graduate of Danbury High School and a 1985 graduate of Duquesne University and a 1986 graduate of Magna Cum Laude from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He married Jo Ahrens on June 16, 1990 and she survives. Bib was a funeral director for the Peninsula and Port Clinton Chapels of Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, he was previously a funeral director at Gerner & Wolf Funeral Home, Port Clinton and a partner with Gerner-Wolf-Kopchak Funeral Home, Port Clinton until 1999. He owned the UPS Store in Port Clinton until 2006. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton and St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Marblehead. He was a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a member of the Finance Committee and previously served on Immaculate Conception School Board and was the board president for three years. He served on the Port Clinton City Schools Citizens Advisory Committee, the Strategic Planning Facilities Action Team and he served on the Bond Issue Committee. Graduate - Leadership Ottawa County. He was a board member of Ottawa County Transit Authority, a member of Colonial Club and Port Clinton Rotary where he was a past president. He was a past board member of the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce. He previously was a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club and the Nor' Easter Club.
Surviving are his wife, Jo; sons, Karl S. and Drew E. both at home; sister, Kathleen Kopchak of Port Clinton; brothers, Allen Kopchak of Port Clinton and Ronald Kopchak of Pleasant Garden, NC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Misler at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton Chapel. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Immaculate Conception Church, Immaculate Conception School or to the family in care of Karl and Drew Kopchak.

Jo, I am a cousin of Barbara Ritter, and I met Dave briefly at the funerals of Kraft Ritter (in the winter of 2008), and Dolores Ritter (the following winter of 2009). I was shocked when Teresa (Barb's sister) told me about Dave's death, and I am just so very sorry for you and your sons as you bear this loss-of-all-losses. You have been on my mind and in my heart these past days, and I will continue to keep you in my prayer.

Dear Jo,
There are no words to express how much "Bib" means to so many. I will treasure all the memories I have of him. He helped me through my most difficult time when my husband passed away. David and I were cousins and only 15 days apart in age. We had great fun when we were growing up. His family lived next door to my grandpa(his uncle). Even though we didn't stay in touch as adults I will miss him and always have wonderful memories of our childhood summers with family. I love you David.

Oh,I am so sorry to hear about David. He was one of those people who left an indelible mark on your heart. As one of his teachers at Danbury I can say David was the kindest, friendliest and most fun student I ever had in class. His picture made me smile through the tears.
