CAPE CORAL, FL: Doris Jean (Smith) Kisabeth, age 81, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Hope Hospice House, Cape Coral, Florida after fighting a battle with cancer. She was a homemaker and loving wife to Donald C. Kisabeth, formally of Fostoria, Ohio.
She was born on July 28, 1930 in Lorain, Ohio to John K. and Julia A. Smith of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Doris graduated from Lorain High School in 1948. During the summer of 1951, she enjoyed her time working at Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point. She was a member of the PHI Sorority and graduated in 1952 from Heidelberg College. She went on to become a Home Economics teacher at Fostoria Junior High and High School from 1952 to 1957.
Doris was happily married to Donald C. Kisabeth on October 16, 1955 at The Hungarian Reformed Church in Lorain, Ohio. She was a member of the Fostoria Eastern Star and the Fostoria Ladies Garden Club. Doris was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, OH and then became a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Coral, FL. She and her husband Don raised four wonderful children in Fostoria where they enjoyed summers at their cottage on Catawba Island.
Doris enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, line dancing and was a faithful viewer of the television series, Days of Our Lives. In the late 1980's, Doris was the head cook's assistant for the nationally distributed Amish Cooking and Heartland Cooking television series hosted by Marcia Adams.
Doris is survived by her husband, Donald Kisabeth; her children, Dr. Tim C. Kisabeth of Godfrey, IL.; Scott J. (Denise) Kisabeth of Bowling Green, OH; Jill M. (Kevin) Auchmuty of Cygnet, OH; and Kay L. (Rod) Brownell of Vermilion, OH; Grandchildren Matthew, Jennifer, Mitchell, Samantha, Sean and Rachel.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia Smith; and brother James Smith of Greensboro, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, OH.
