Edna "Theo" Johnson

CATAWBA ISLAND: Edna "Theo" Johnson, 87, of Catawba Island, Ohio died peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 01, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on October 5, 1925 in Cameron, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Elmer and Leota (Floyd) Ryan. On March 5, 1945 she married Herman G. Johnson. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1991.

Theo was the head cook at Bataan Elementary and Port Clinton High School until her retirement in 1999. She was a founding member of the Catawba Union Chapel on Catawba Island where she was an active member of the Chapel Mothers until its closing. She then attended the Gypsum Community Church. Her hobbies included reading, quilting, music, singing and her home on Catawba Island. She knew most of the words to country-western songs from the 1920's through the 1980's, and would sing along when she had the opportunity. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was very devoted to them.

She loved and was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Terry (Kay) Johnson, Port Clinton, Rick (Theresa) Johnson, Monroeville, Ohio, Eric (Connie) Johnson, Oak Harbor, Craig (Kathy) Johnson, Elkhart, Indiana, Kent (Deanna) Johnson, Port Clinton, Lori (Tom) Pierce, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Julie (Randy) Human, Kevin (Tina) Johnson, Greg Johnson, Alex Johnson, Travis (Lesyle) Johnson, Nick (Yvonne) Johnson, Corey (Tony) Godzwa, Shannon (Rick) Crowder, Stacy Germann, Becca Johnson, Lucas (Wendy) Johnson, Trevor (Rachel) Johnson, Dane (Anna) Johnson, Johnathan (Erica) Manns, Taylor Manns; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol J. Anderson, Atwater, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter: Lisa, and six brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, from 11am until funeral services at 1pm with Stein Hospice Chaplain Mel Sayler officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery.
