Frances F. Harris Obituary
Frances F. Harris

GENOA: Frances F. Harris, 78, of Genoa, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, in Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio.

Fran was born December 17, 1934, in Genoa, to Alphonsus "Fritz" and Helen (Verkin) Meng. On October 10, 1953, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, she married William T. Harris, who preceded her in death May 4, 1990. Fran worked as a clerk for over 20 years for J.C. Penney at the Woodville and Southwyck Malls.

Fran was very giving of herself to many--a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and very dedicated to her Catholic faith and her church. Her church activities included the Grotto Committee, the Funeral Luncheon Committee, the Finance Committee and the Prayer Shawl Ministry. In her spare time she loved to crochet and was known for her "scrubbies" and she also liked to shop.

She is survived by her children, Sue Zunk of Woodville, Joe (Shawnee) Harris of Graytown and Cindy Whitner of Woodville; grandchildren, Drew, Mikki, David, Eddie, Don, Darrell, Savanah, T.J., Krista, Mike, Jamie, Meagan and Daniel; and 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Ackerman of Fremont, Margaret (Gary) Cox of Dayton, Mildred (Robert) Fetzer of Jacksonville, FL and Virginia (Don) Giles of Genoa.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, Kathy Peters, Nancy Vogelpohl and John Harris, grandchild, Stacey Kruse, and sister, Bernadette MacRae.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 S. Main St., Genoa, OH 43430. Immediately following the Mass, family and friends are invited to the church hall for a time of fellowship and luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or the Grotto Fund, 204 Main St., Genoa, OH 43430.

The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa, has assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
