Grace Bays Obituary
Grace Bays

OAK HARBOR: Grace Bays, 86, of Oak Harbor, died early Wednesday morning, May 16, 2012, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Grace was born in Staten Island, New York, March 17, 1926, to Margaret (Neubauer) and Warren Decker. She had six sisters, Margaret, Josephine, Louise, Ann, Francis and Jane and two brothers, August and Edward, son, Loniel W. Bays, Jr., as well as a grandson, Chad Owens, and daughters-in-law, Star Owens and Tok Nan Owens, who all preceded her in going on to be cradled in the loving arms of Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior.

Grace and her husband, Loniel W. Bays, Sr., who went before her in 1990 to be cradled in the loving arms of Jesus, raised ten children: four sons, Frederick K. Owens of Anchorage, AK, Robert D. Owens (Diana Goetz) and John W. (Lucretia) Owens of Fremont, OH, Rodney D. (Cheryl) Owens of Grove City, OH; Grace also has a son, Bill (Sue) Wyrick of Powell, TN; five daughters, Carol Ann (Bob) Grose of Healy, AK, Patricia Ann (Chip) McManus of Oak Harbor, Joan B. Arquette of Port Clinton, Penney Sue Ballard and Candy Sue Zunk (Dick LaFountain) of Oak Harbor; 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Grace enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought much joy into her life. She also had some special people in her life: nieces, Barb Gonya, Evelyn Zielinski and Millie Williams; nephew, Larry Gonya; and special friends, Blanche Bostic, Yoalonda Owens, and Dennis Fox.

Grace was employed at Bob Underwood's Restaurant, Weller's, and retired from Aim Packaging in 1988. She was a faith partner of CMB Ministries in Castalia, Ohio, and also supported many other charities. Grace was an avid crocheter. She crocheted blankets for most of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild until arthritis took over in her fingers and she could no longer crochet.

We will miss her here on earth, but we have the comfort and promise of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that we WILL BE reunited in Heaven!

We love you, Mom, and we'll miss you dearly!

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor, with visitation from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 401 Tomahawk Dr., Maumee, OH 43537, for her son, Loniel W. Bays, Jr., who passed away from the illness and daughter, Penney Ballard, who also suffers from MS; or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.

Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.

"If I knew it would be the last time, I would spare an extra moment or two to stop and say, 'I love you,' instead of assuming you know I do. So just in case tomorrow never comes and today is all I get, I'd like to say how MUCH I LOVE EACH OF YOU, and hope YOU WILL NEVER FORGET."
