ROCKWOOD, TN: Mr. Mark William Hodan, of Rockwood, TN, 70, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2013 after a long illness.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of 43 years; and his three children, Bill and wife Billie of Kennesaw, Georgia, Dan and wife Heather, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and Cheryl Overholt of Knoxville, Tennesee; and their families, including three grandchildren: Kayla, Jaxon, and Mason. Mark is also survived by his sister Karen Mainous, of Pell City, Alabama; and brother, Allen Hodan of Dillon, Montana.
Mark was born in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Charles William Hodan and Francis Jane (Kratz) Hodan.
As a youth, Mark excelled in playing the trumpet and performing in local and state ensemble and solo contests in Port Clinton, Ohio and subsequently in Phoenix, NY where he graduated from high school in 1961. After high school he attended the State University of New York School of Music in Fredonia, NY. His love of trumpet and brass music was a lifelong passion. Mark left college in 1962 and enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Vietnam in 1963. Upon completion of his enlistment in 1965 he gained employment as an accountant at TRW Automotive in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He attended college at the Detroit College of Business, and while working at TRW, Mark obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance in 1974. His perseverance and dedication led to a promotion in 1979 to Controller of the TRW Staton Plant in Greenville, NC, and later to Rack and Pinion Division Controller, based in Rogersville, TN. After retiring from TRW in 1997, Mark moved with his wife to Rockwood, TN where he was Controller for British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) in Oakridge, and later, Treasurer for the Rockwood, TN Gas & Water Utility.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Charles Kelley officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard and the Tennessee Army Nation Guard.
