PORT CLINTON: Mary Alice "Myrt" Streeter, 91, of Port Clinton, OH passed away, Monday, January 07, 2013. She was born June 30, 1921 in Port Clinton, OH, the daughter of William F. and Clara A. (Hoffman) Wolf. On June 8, 1946 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, she married Clarence H. Streeter and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1994.
The nickname of "Myrt" fit her well. She enjoyed a good joke and with a twinkle in her eye didn't mind telling a bad one. Myrt was a casual, relaxed person who got things done without fluster or flurry. She held dear her family, friends, church and community and will be greatly missed by all.
A lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church, Mary Alice also was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School. She served on the sacristan committee, the Altar Rosary Society, the Lady of Fatima Study Club, the Christ Renews His Parish team and the RCIA team, where she helped prospective members in their preparation to join her beloved Church. She also was an active member and past president of the Child Guidance Council. She was named Port Clinton Woman of the Year in 1967. A former physical education major, Mary Alice taught swimming at the city beach, East Harbor State Park and Port Clinton High school. She volunteered for the American Red Cross in the lifesaving programs and the Blood Mobile program. She held a lifetime membership in the Magruder Hospital Auxiliary as well as memberships in the Port Clinton Yacht Club, Moose Lodge #1610 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Elk's Lodge #1718 Auxiliary.
Mary Alice is survived by her loving children, Mary Jo (Joseph) Brenner of Oconomowoc, WI, William W. (Melody) Streeter of Racine, WI, Patricia A. (David) Soderberg of Port Clinton, Martha J. (Jeffrey) Cox of Lower Burrell, PA, and Carol F. (Gregory) Fox of Port Clinton; she is further survived by grandchildren, Joseph (Christine) Brenner, William Brenner, Todd Streeter, Caleb Streeter, Benjamin Soderberg, Joshua (Kimberly) Soderberg, Ann Soderberg, Sarah (Robert) Reifschneider, Daniel Cox, Brian Cox and Joseph Cox; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Maxwell and Marcella Brenner and Wyatt Soderberg. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, James, Richard and George Wolf; step-brother Tom McRitchie; and nephew David Wolf.
The family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation for the many thoughts, prayers, and acts of kindness extended by relatives, friends and neighbors during the illness of our dear mother. Also we would like to thank her caregivers and especially Stein Hospice.
