PORT CLINTON: Richard A. Bergman, 81, of Port Clinton, died at 6:20 a.m., Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

Richard was born August 9, 1932, in Port Clinton, to the late Rollin and Jesse (Warnke) Bergman. He married Carole (Toepper) at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Clinton on February 14, 1987 and she survives in Port Clinton.

Survivors include his three daughters, Patricia (Tom Powers) Navarro of Fremont, Betty (Mike) Bennett of Fremont, Sandra (Edward) Greunke of Columbus; four step-children Todd (Susan) Conn of Tiffin, Lori (Shawn Curry) Good of Columbus, David (Laura) Conn of Tiffin, Jennifer (Bob) Miller of Fostoria; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Bettinger of Berkey, OH.

Richard retired from Columbus Gas Company after 36 years. Richard was a member of the Port Clinton VFW, American Legion, Nugent's Canal Yacht Club where he was the Past Commodore. Richard was an avid OSU Football, Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians Fan. Richard was a United States Marine Veteran serving during Korea.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don Bergman; and a sister, Marge Bergman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory in Tiffin. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, from 3-7 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Wednesday, at Seneca Memory Gardens with Military Honor's being rendered by the United Veterans Council.
