Robert F. Schillig

GAHANNA: Robert F. Schillig, 84, of Gahanna, died peacefully and went to be with his "Sweet Miriam", Friday, September 7, 2012. He was born April 18, 1928 in Maximo, Ohio. Bob was dedicated to his family and will be dearly missed by them.

Preceded in death by his wife, Miriam; parents, Charles and Louise Schillig; and siblings.

Bob will be missed by his loving children, Edward (Nancy) Schillig, Beth Schillig, Mark (Becky) Schillig, Ken (Jeanie) Schillig, Rose (Jeff) Routte, Debbie (Bill) Kittel, and Nancy (Rick) Skeen; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Bob served in the U.S. Army as a cook during the Korean War. He was a successful businessman who owned Convenient Food Mart & Cleaners in Gahanna. Bob was a long-time member of St. Matthew Church in Gahanna and the VFW Post # 4719. He was known by most fishing charter captains on Lake Erie as "CATBIRD". They looked for his expert fishing advice, knowledge and home crafted lures he nicknamed "St. Robert Lures".

Family will receive friends for a reception at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, 5100 E. Broad St., Columbus, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012, where a private Catholic Mass will be held prior to the reception. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert's memory to Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. Private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
