GENOA: Hazel D. Marsh, 97, of Genoa, formerly of Williston, Ohio, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Genoa Retirement Village.
Hazel was born July 30, 1916, in Bono, Ohio, to Ferdinand F. and Minnie (Dreier) Buss and was a 1934 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. On November 24, 1938, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Martin, Ohio, she married Dean Marsh, who preceded her in death October 24, 2010. In 1941 Hazel and Dean built their home in Williston and lived there for 67 years until November 2008 when she and Dean moved to the Genoa Retirement Village.
Hazel was a homemaker and worked 19 years as a department supervisor at the former W.T. Grant Co. At St. Peter Lutheran Church she sang in the choir and had been an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, where she belonged to the WELCA, the Dorcas Circle, taught Sunday School; and for many years, she belonged to the Blanket Ladies Group. She had volunteered at the Luther Home of Mercy for many years and worked with Dean at the precinct voting station for several years. She was also a member of the Women's Executive Board for the Genoa Retirement Village. Hazel had enjoyed working in her garden, working cross-stitch and crafts.
Her survivors include her sons, Douglas (Sally) Marsh and Robert (Shirley) Marsh, daughter, Sharon (Gene) Ballantyne; grandchildren, Cindy Waldron, Jeff Marsh, Michele Mohler and Wade Marsh; great grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Nicholas, Grant and Emma; and great-great grandson, Aiden.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery, Graytown. Family and friends are invited to the church for fellowship and a luncheon following the burial.
