PORT CLINTON: Joyce Ellen Foreman, 85 of Port Clinton, OH passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Edgewood Manor Nursing Center. She was born June 9, 1927 to Hans and Goldie (Felder) Christiansen. On February 23, 1946 in Oak Harbor, OH, she married Clinton (Jim) Foreman and he preceded her in death in 1985.

Joyce was a graduate of the Port Clinton High School Class of 1945. For several years she worked as a clerk at the A&P store in Port Clinton. Then, Joyce and her husband ran and owned the Silver Top Tavern in Fremont for 17 years. She enjoyed cooking wild game for the members of the Winous Point Shooting Club. Joyce was also known for being an excellent seamstress; providing alteration services for many clients. Even in her last days, she could still be found with a crochet hook making a blanket.

Joyce was a past member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor before attending Peace Lutheran Church in Port Clinton. She was past president of the Riverview Healthcare Campus Auxiliary in Oak Harbor as well as the Elks Ladies Auxiliary of Port Clinton. Joyce was a past member of the Nugent's Canal Yacht Club and volunteered in the Magruder Hospital Gift Shop. She also enjoyed her time as a member of the Red Hat Society.

Joyce is survived by her daughters: Penny (David) Gottron of Port Clinton/Key Colony Beach FL and Connie Durdel of Oak Harbor; grandchildren: Jennifer (John) Schroeder, Matt (Sara) Gottron, Jodi (Rex) Holman, Kelly (Jerry) Witt and Clark Durdel; 11 great-grandchildren; and two nephews Gary (Georgie) Matthews and Randy (Lynn) Matthews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepmother Dortha (Hankins) Christiansen; sister Marge Matthews Rakes and son James Foreman.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be shared with the family at
