OAK HARBOR: Maria Valera Crisologo, 99 of Oak Harbor, OH died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at her home.
She was born December 21, 1913 in Bangued, Philippines to the late Servando and Heresvita (Lizardo) Valera. She was a High School and College Graduate of the Philippines where she earned her degree in Education. On May 26, 1938 she married Guillermo Crisologo who preceded her in death April 19, 1998.
She moved to the United States following her retirement in 1979 as a 2nd grade school teacher for Bangued East Central School in the Philippines. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. Maria enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, crocheting, but most importantly caring for her large family.
Survivors include her sons, Dr. Guillermo Crisologo Jr., of Port Clinton, OH, Mario (Fatima) Crisologo of the Philippines, Vicente (Cielo) Crisologo of Chicago, IL; daughters, Mima (Raymond) Lizares and Heresvita DeLeon both of Oak Harbor; 28 grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Carmelo and Consolacion Crisologo; infant daughters Maria Victoria and Fatima Cleofe Crisologo; and brothers: Fidencio, Jesus, Pepito and Munding Valera.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-7:30pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor where a Parrish Wake Service will begin at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday, January 12, 2013 with Rev. James Pfeiffer celebrant. Burial will be in the Philippines at a later date.
