RAY CONKEL
BUCYRUS - Ray E. Conkel, 65, of Bucyrus, passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 27, 2013, in Marion General Hospital, his death was unexpected. Ray was born May 12, 1948, in Harrison Twp., Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late David and Phoebe (Siebert) Conkel. On July 7, 1973, he married Mary Clark, who survives.
Ray is also survived by his children, Martin Edward Conkel of Bucyrus, Donald Ray (Sherry) Conkel of Crestline, and Dodie Elaine Conkel of Galion; his grandchildren, Dustin Lee Rigney, Haley Nicole Conkel, Shelby Lynn Rigney, and Natalie Lynn Conkel; his brother, Clarence (Sandy) Conkel of Portsmouth; his sisters, Roseann (Charles) Carter of Bucyrus and Clara Rule of Wheelersburg, Ohio; his sister-in-law, Donna Conkel of Portsmouth; his aunt, Edna Mae Conkel of Portsmouth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ray was preceded in death by his brother, William Conkel; infant brother, Roy Conkel; and his brother-in-law, Hank Rule.
Ray graduated from Minford High School Class of 1967. He moved to Bucyrus in 1968, where he worked for the Swan Company retiring after 44 years. He attended the Freewill Baptist Church in Bucyrus and Freedom Fellowship Church in Caledonia. He loved camping, being with his family and friends, his 57 Chevy, NASCAR, and was an OSU Fan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home in Bucyrus and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Chris Stewart and Lyle Arnett officiating, burial will follow in Harrison Twp. Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice through the funeral home.
