HARRY "BRUCE" ANDERSON PORTSMOUTH - Harry "Bruce" Anderson, 67, of Portsmouth, died Monday May 4, 2015 at SOMC Hospice. Bruce was born November 5, 1947 in Portsmouth to the late Walter Anderson and Doris Semones McLaughlin. He was a 1965 graduate of Portsmouth High School, a retired Mechanical Engineer from Norfolk and Southern Railroad with 29 years of service, and an Air Force Veteran serving in Viet Nam. He is survived by a daughter, Kerri Anderson of Fort Mill, South Carolina, two grandchildren; Gregory Morrison II and Kendyll White, three brothers; Bob Anderson of Portsmouth, Steve Anderson of Michigan and Brent Anderson of Dallas, TX, a sister, Martha Anderson of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Portsmouth with Rev. Clarence Parker officiating. Burial will be in Geeenlawn Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites provided by the American Legion, James Dickey Post 23. Friends may call at the church, one hour before the service on Thursday, starting at 10 a.m. Melcher Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Arnett, Paul - West Portsmouth  
PAUL ARNETT WEST PORTSMOUTH—Paul Vernon Arnett, 78, of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at SOMC Hospice. He was born August 8, 1936 in West Portsmouth to the late Boone and Virgie Salyer Arnett. Paul was a retired roofer with 42 years of roofing. He was a member of Roofers Local 307/185, where he was a former business agent. After his retirement, he continued working at Hills West Side Florist. He was also known as a "personal chauffer" and "bus driver" to many. Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Robert Arnett. Paul is survived by his wife, Shirley Kitchen Arnett, who he married on November 25, 1954; a son, Phillip "Tony" (Carolyn) Arnett; a daughter, Paula (Butch) Rose; his twin sister, Patricia (Tom) Payne; sisters-in law, Georgetta Arnett, Mary Arnett, Janet (Howard) Weghorst and Penny Miller. He was also the "Best Papaw in the World" to Heather Runions, Heidi (Eric) Berry, Adam Arnett and Bryson Arnett; and great grandchildren Hayden Runions and Brayden Berry. He was also known as the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Condolences may be sent to .
