PAYTON IRONTON — John Nelson Payton, 88, the husband of Ruthanna Myers Payton of Ironton, passed away Friday May 15, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday May 19, 2015, at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

WILLIAM PORTER SOUTH PORTSMOUTH, Ky. — William Porter, 75, of South Portsmouth, Ky., passed away, May 21, 2015, in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born in Greenup County, Ky., Dec. 16, 1939, a son of the late Raymond Porter and Sarah "Gladys" Arthur Porter. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Ann Porter, to whom he married Sept. 1, 1961, two daughters, Fernande "Donald" Ratcliff of Portsmouth, Ohio, Sandy "Robert" Chandler of South Portsmouth, Ky., two sons, Ernest Porter of South Portsmouth, Ky., William Dale "Rose" Porter of South Shore, Ky., one brother, Franklin Porter of Chillicothe, Ohio, three sisters, Rose Cantrell of Chillicothe, Ohio, Louise Hall of South Portsmouth, Ky., Carolyn Carver of South Portsmouth, Ky., 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lynn Porter, daughter in law, Tonya Porter, three sisters, Virginia Glispie, Thelma Porter and Lutricia Sensabaugh, six brothers, James Porter, Robert Porter, Walter Porter, Raymond Porter, Charles Porter and George Porter. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky with Brother Todd Lockyer, officiating. Burial will follow in Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth, Kentucky. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015, and from 1 p.m. till the funeral hour at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Preston, Robert - Lucasville  
ROBERT PRESTON LUCASVILLE—Robert Junior Preston, 90, of Lucasville, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born April 21, 1925 in Lucasville, a son of the late Robert Mastern and Mary Belle Chandler Preston. Junior was a retired SOCF Corrections Officer, a retired Heavy Equipment Operating Engineer, and a 1943 Valley High School graduate. He was an avid sports fan of Cincinnati Reds Baseball, Ohio State football and basketball, andValley High School basketball, where he excelled as a player. His favorite hobby was playing checkers. He is survived by three sons, Robert G. (Robyn) Preston, of Lucasville, Larry Dean (Patty June) Preston, of West Portsmouth, and Howard Keith (Marjorie) Preston, of Melbourne, Fla; three grandchildren, Kelly Null, Larry Dean Preston II, and Amanda Rae Preston; two great-grandchildren, Brady and Riley Null; and his special friends, Jeff Baughman and Dan Ratliff. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Louise Johnson Preston, June 18, 2010; five brothers, Hobert, Thomas, Raymond, Charles, and Thurman Preston; and four sisters, Rushia Griffith, Calista Smith, Annie Kidd, and Beatrice Dean. The family would like to give special thanks to his caregiver, Kim Evans, for all her tender loving care and the SOMC Wound Center for their excellent care. Graveside services will be conducted at noon, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Lucasville Cemetery with Paul Crabtree officiating. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.
