William Ernest Hamilton, 63, of McDermott, died Friday, August 23, 2013, in Southern Ohio Medical Center's Emergency room.
He was born Dec. 22, 1949, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Carl and Dorothy Staley Hamilton.
Bill was a retired warehouse supervisor from Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, a U.S. Army Reserve veteran, a Vietnam War veteran, and a 1967 Valley High School graduate. Bill was a member of the Center Street Church in Lucasville where he served in several positions, a board member of the Mt. Hope Bible Camp, and a member of the William A. Baker Post 363 of the American Legion where he served on the funeral detail.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Sue Picklesimer, whom he married Aug. 29, 1997 in Lucasville; his children, Matthew (Ann) Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, Jon (Kim) Hamilton, Julie (Kevin) Smith, Gina (Randy) McClay, and Joe (Monica) Mossbarger; 10 grandchildren, Aaron McClay, Taylor Burchett, Klaire and Dakota Smith, Morgan and Cassidy Lebrun, Caylie Hamilton, Mercedes, Sakorah and Jace Mossbarger; one brother, Jeff (Bev) Hamilton of Clarktown; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Ron Conkel of Minford.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at the Mt. Hope Bible Camp, Beery Center, with Phil Howard and Jody Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park where graveside military rites will be performed by the William A. Baker and James Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mt. Hope Bible Camp.
