Carl Crisp


WEST PORTSMOUTH - Carl Stanley Crisp Sr., 75, of West Portsmouth, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Advance 360 in Portsmouth. He was born November 18, 1937, in Portsmouth to the late Lester Lee and Nora Carter Crisp. He retired after 47 years as a union carpenter and from Boone Coleman Construction Company in West Portsmouth. He was a member of Carpenters Local #437 and a 25-year member of Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Chief from 1985 to 1988. Along with his parents Carl was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Crisp Jr. and William Crisp; and a sister Bertha Morrison.

Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Denning Crisp who he married March 5, 1957; three sons, Carl Crisp Jr., Mark Crisp and Charles Crisp all of West Portsmouth; a daughter, Dianna Howard of West Portsmouth; a brother, Charles Crisp of Ripley; two sisters, Thelma Dillow of Portsmouth and Ruth Crisp of Columbus; a special niece, Mary Ann Crisp of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with interment in Mershon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
