Charles Nichols


PORTSMOUTH - Charles David Nichols, 76, of Portsmouth, died Friday, November 22, 2013, at Hempstead Manor in Portsmouth.

He was born June 10, 1937, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Orville and Marjorie Cole Nichols.

Charles was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, a 1968 El Cajon Valley High School graduate, and a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran.

He is survived by three brothers, Edward Nichols of Wheelersburg, William (Linda) Nichols of West Portsmouth, and Dale Nichols of Portsmouth; five sisters, Pat (Ralph) Wolfenbarger and Mary Lou (Dewey) Sexton, both of South Shore, Ky., Kay (Jeff) Daniels of Piketon, Sandra Crawford of South Shore, and Brenda Shod of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and caregiver, Will Hill who was like his son.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jan. 31, 2013, Judy Webb Nichols, whom he married Feb. 18, 1988, in McDermott.

Graveside services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, in Rushtown Cemetery with George Vastine officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
