Chester Eugene Murphy


C. Eugene Murphy, of West Portsmouth, died Friday, June 6, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

He was a son of the late Chester Lee and Selby Pearl Turner Murphy.

Eugene was a retired route salesman for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company with 35 years of service. Was a member of Rome Lodge F&AM 535, the Ohio Order of the Eastern Star at Portsmouth 424, Past Patron and Marshall, and dual member at Lucasville OES 495. He was a member of Community Bible Church in Lucasville.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice J. Windsor Murphy, Oct. 7, 1950 at Dry Run; two daughters, Twanta Riley of West Portsmouth, Pearl Murphy at home; two granddaughters, Melody Riley of West Portsmouth and Kimberly (Chris) Risner of Lucasville; great granddaughter Kilee Risner; two brothers, Robert Lee (Paula) Murphy of Waxhaw, NC, and Bruce Paul (Darlene) Murphy of West Portsmouth; and two sisters, Mattie Jean (Charlie) Porter and Guora Lynn (Robert) Killgallion of West Portsmouth; and other relatives and friends in the area.

He was also preceded in death by his loving step mother, Mary Lou Murphy; and two sisters, Betty Lou and Virginia Nell Murphy.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Craddock Frye and Joey Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Order of Eastern Star Services will be conducted at 7:15 by the Lucasville Chapter 495. Rome Lodge 535 will conduct a Masonic Funeral at 7:45 p.m.
