James Blair


James Francis Blair 84 of Lucasville, OH, went to be with the Lord March 14, 2014. He was born May 16, 1929, at Barnetts Creek, KY, to the late Lacy and Lelia Baldwin Blair.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil Blair and Tilmon Blair; and one sister, Naomi Burchett.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye LeMaster Blair whom he married March 13, 1954 in Flat Gap, KY; two daughters Donna (David) Bragdon of Lucasville, Debra Gray of Lucasville; one son David (Debbie) Blair of New Boston, OH; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Jones, and Maola Burchett; and one brother, Norman Blair.

Francis served the Lord as an ordained minister for many years. He was ordained February 24, 1954, in Oil Springs, KY. He was moderator for Candy Run United Baptist Church, Low Gap United Baptist Church, Morgan Fork United Baptist Church and Little Paint United Baptist Church. He was also blessed to labor in countless revivals and see many come to the Lord.

He also served in the Army from 1951 to 1956. He worked for over 25 years from the Labors Local 83 in Portsmouth, OH. He and his wife owned and operated the Valley Street Market from 1961 to 1968. He also worked at the Martin Marietta Energy System from 1975 to 1986.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Big Run United Baptist Church in Lucasville. Friends may call Monday, March 17th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
