WHEELERSBURG – Richard W. "Dick" Dunham, 71, of Wheelersburg, passed away on Wednesday Feb. 12, 2014, at SOMC Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 28, 1942, in Portsmouth, a son of Richard W. Dunham Sr. and the late Thelma Adkins Dunham. He was a graduate of Glenwood High School, a member of Sciotoville Christian Church and a retiree of the New Boston Coke Corp. after 30 years service. He served as a football coach in Sciotoville from pee-wee to high school level for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends and spending time with lifelong friends at Jones Garage. Since 2003 he much of his time caring for his grandchildren and attending their functions.
He is also survived by his wife, Lois Crabtree Dunham; one daughter, Jennifer Wright and husband Johnny of Wheelersburg; grandchildren, Aidan, Nolan and Laken Wright; brothers, Michael Joseph Dunham and wife Patricia of McDermott and Greg Dunham and wife Cathy of Wheelersburg; sister, Paula Fraley-Whisman and husband Scott of Rosemount; also survived and involved in his care were Bob Crabtree, Nita (Bill) Gammon and Karen (Jon) Peyton who considered him their brother and many special nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a son, Chris Dunham.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON with Pastor Josh Book, Pastor Mike Percell, Brian Enz and Mike Stapleton officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 to 11 a.m. at D.W. SWICK in New Boston.
