Virginia Hawk


Virginia E. Hawk of Wheelersburg, Ohio, formerly of East Sparta, Ohio, passed away March 27, 2014, at 3:05 p.m. in Wheelersburg, Ohio. She was born in Somerdale, Ohio, on August 8, 1918, to the late William and Laura Wilson Miller.

Virginia married Vincent D. Hawk on January 25, 1947, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1986.

Virginia enjoyed crocheting, knitting and working puzzles out of the newspaper and reading and studying the Bible when her eye sight would allow her to do so.

Virginia is survived by one daughter, Linda Henkel and her husband Jack with whom she lived for 18 years. She is also survived by one stepgranddaughter, Kendra Accardo; one stepgrandson, Ryan Accardo; two nieces, JoLane Elson and Vicki Pellegrini; and two nephews, Grant Hawk and Jeff Miller. Many thanks to her niece, Vicki Pellegrini, who helped care for Virginia the last week of her life.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Brothers, and one brother, Fred Miller, both of East Sparta, Ohio.

Virginia was a homemaker and a member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Sciotoville.

Graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

The family has requested to have no flowers. Donations may be made in Virginia's name to SOMC Hospice, Sierra's Haven or Christ United Methodist Church in Sciotoville. Arrangements are under the direction of HARRISON-PYLES FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg.
