WHEELERSBURG —Daniel Joseph Kirby, 72, of Wheelersburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 20, 2014. He was born in Portsmouth, OH on July 29, 1941 to the late Charles and Audrey Burkhardt Kirby.
Dan was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, a 1959 graduate of Notre Dame High School and he had attended Ohio University Portsmouth. He was an Air Force veteran, an avid pilot and a member of the Beech Aero Club, and also a member of the Rotary Club. He had worked as a field engineer for NCR for 11 years and was a founder of KBM Business Machines, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Burk Kirby, whom he married on April 11, 1964. Also surviving are their six children, Joe (Chris) of Jackson, OH, Barb (John) Clayton of Portsmouth, Sallie (Curt) Witter of Batavia, OH, Amanda Jane (Chuck) Jones of Portsmouth, Amy (Dan) Cassidy of West Portsmouth, and Charlie (Summer) Kirby of Portsmouth; 20 grandchildren, Aaron, Adam and Natalie Kirby, Matthew, Annie, Madeline Clayton and Sarah (Tyler) Clifford, Michael, Danny and Emily Jones, Abby and Sam Witter, Drew, Isabel, Alex and Luke Cassidy, Aidan, Ella, Isaac and Ava Kirby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. Adam Streitenberger officiating. There will be visitation at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Dan's Life immediately following Mass at Holy Redeemer Activity Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, SOMC Hospice or Notre Dame Schools.
Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed…
