ROBERT WILLIAM CRAYCRAFT, 92

FRIENDSHIP – Robert William "Bill" Craycraft died peacefully at his home in Friendship, Ohio, on Thursday, January 2, 2014. He was born March 12, 1921, in Greenup County Kentucky, the youngest child of the late William Paul (Buff) Craycraft and Nellie Gray Spence Craycraft.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruth L. Shaw Craycraft; sons Richard Craycraft of Stout, Ohio, and Robert Craycraft of Washington, D.C.; grandsons, Randall and Mark Craycraft; granddaughter Erica Craycraft; nephews, Lester "Sonny" Craycraft Jr., Paul David Craycraft, Charles Craycraft and William Willis; and nieces, Mary Ann Craycraft Provinziano, Geraldine Craycraft Cooper, Sharon Milam Berkoben, Teena Milam Gerdert, Rhonda Willis Trumbell, Kim Willis Herrmann, Ruth Ann Felty Greathouse, Sharon K. Felty Gammon, Brenda Craycraft Hayes, Barbara Craycraft Flack and Janice Craycraft. Bill also had a special nephew, Jack Craycraft, and special little friend, Gary Jenkins.

Bill graduated from South Portsmouth High School and was a member of South Portsmouth Methodist Church. He received a BBA degree from Tulane University in 1946. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Rome Masonic Lodge 535 and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1938 to 1978, when he retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves as a Master Chief Disbursing Clerk. He earned seven combat battle stars during WWII, serving in the North Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean Theaters. He worked at the Atomic Plant in Piketon, Ohio, for 28 years and retired in 1982 as a supervisor of Uranium Materials Accountability.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. January 6th, 2014. at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky. with Gary Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore with Military Graveside Rites by James Dickey American Legion Post 23. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:45 p.m.
