Robert Lee "Bob" Craft
Robert Lee "Bob" Craft, known as Coach Craft to many, entered his Heavenly home on July 28, 2013.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Juliet Rodriguez-Craft, his daughter Stephanie Craft, and his grandson in whom he was very proud, Elijah Craft, all of Minford.
Bob loved this life and his family, but also longed for Heaven where he could once again be with his son, Bobby Craft who passed in 2003. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna Craft, brother, Clayton Craft, and sisters, Arlene Ward and Patricia Arnold.
Bob is also survived by sisters, Betty (Bob) Ross of Ashland, Ohio, Barbara Hines of Trenton, Ga.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Craft of Rosemount, Ohio; brothers, Clay Craft of Minford, Ohio, Jerry (Linda) Craft of Pataskala, Ohio, David Craft of Nashport, Ohio, as well as a host of many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, friends, and special mentor and friend, Coach Shurl Shoemaker.
Bob had a coaching career that spanned more than 20 years, to include softball, basketball, and volleyball. He was a recipient of the Ohio Coach of the year as well as SOC Coach of the year and had many successes in his coaching career. He loved the game, no matter what it was, and loved investing his time and experience into the lives of his players.
Up until the time of his death Bob had been employed by Portsmouth City Schools where he taught for many years and made many friends amongst his coworkers. He loved teaching and had looked forward to returning in the fall.
Bob was a 1969 graduate of East High School and a 1991 graduate of The Ohio University. He served in the U.S. Army receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1976. He was a Vietnam War Era Veteran and was very proud of his military service. He was a member of Madison Missionary Baptist Church in Minford where he had many loving friends who were faithful in praying for him and visiting him during his illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Madison Missionary Baptist Church, 13400 SR 335 in Minford with Pastor Stephen Curry officiating. Burial will be at Harrison-Furnace Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
