PORTSMOUTH —- Curtis Hampton "Bud" Dawson, 85, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at SOMC Hospice. Bud was born on Nov. 22, 1928 in Bramwell, WV, the son of the late John Raghus and Sadie Sarah Doss Dawson, and was a member of the U.S. Navy and former brakeman of Norfolk and Southern. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Garnet Phillips Dawson; one son, Darwin Dawson and one brother, Jack Dawson.

Bud is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dawson; one son, Leslie (Karen) Dawson of Wheelersburg, two brother's, J.R. Dawson of Henrico, VA, William "Bill" Dawson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three sisters, Betty Haskew of Tampa, FL, Norma Jean Bay of Bluefield, WV and Louise Stoker of Bramwell, WV; 2 grandsons, Matthew and Jeffrey Dawson and one great grandson, Samuel Dawson.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the SWICK-BUSSA-CHAMBERLIN FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
