MCDERMOTT – Harold Silcott, 83, of McDermott, joined the Lord and his wife Martina on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Our beloved father and grandfather leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the memories we've created over the years.
He was born March 28, 1930, at Bear Creek, a son of the late Frank and Ethel Kerr Silcott.
Harold was a retired laborer for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad, a member of the Lucasville Branch of the Community of Christ, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Gerald Silcott; and most recently by his beloved wife, Martina Copas Silcott, April 22, 2010, whom he married November 7, 1949.
He is survived by three daughters, Margie (Jerry) Lute, Debbie (Bill) Vest, and Vickie (Daniel) Howard, all of McDermott; five grandchildren, Brian (Janelle) Lute, Ryan Lute, Bill Vest, Michelle (Quinn) Crabtree, and Brandon Howard; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma (Ken) Ice of Ravenna, Ohio, and Janice (John) Bullock of Pikeville, North Carolina; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Lucasville Branch of the Community of Christ with Paul Crabtree and Paul Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery where military graveside rites will be performed by the William A. Baker and James Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
