George Douglas Snyder, 94, of Lucasville, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at his residence.

He was born July 26, 1919 in Wheelersburg, a son of the late George and Christina Kayser Snyder.

George was a retired WWII and Korean War United States Air Force veteran, and a retired Southern Ohio Correctional Officer tower guard.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Thomas Snyder, May 1, 2001; two brothers, Merle and Sydney Snyder; four sisters, Louise Lockwood, Kathleen Edwards, Lillian Claypool, and Faye Lockwood.

He is survived by one son, Richard Eugene Snyder of Lucasville; three grandchildren, Katherine, Brian, and Richard Snyder Jr.; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Snyder of Wheelersburg; and two sisters, Betty Anen of Eustis, Fla. And Tharlene Salisbury of Lucasville.

Graveside military rites will be performed at noon, Thursday, June 29, 2014 by the William A. Baker and James Irwin Posts of the American Legion in Jacob Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
