"When I die, I want my obituary to tell the people about God, and me." God is our Salvation, the way, the truth, and the light. There is a Heaven, and it waits for you. On Saturday, July 12, 2014, Heaven received the soul of Pat Layne.

Patricia Marlene White Layne born February 19, 1931 in Coal Grove, Ohio to Clarence C. and Hazel Ruth (Craft) White. She was educated in the Ironton City School system and married William Willis (Bill) Layne in 1948. She was baptized on a winter day in Storms Creek in the early years of raising her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003, and their eldest son William R. (Billy Ray) Layne in 1968. Also preceding her were her parents and her siblings: Clarence (Bubby) White, Jr., Suzanne Anderson Blair, and Harry Michael Anderson, and a special cousin Beoda White Gholson.

Surviving Pat is her last sibling Mrs. Dreama Murnahan Gibson (Thurman) of Waverly, Ohio. She will leave behind her children and their families: Vicki and Bill Mascari of Upper Arlington, Ohio. Faye and Mick Kitts of Abilene, Texas. Mike Layne and the late Debbi Brubaker Layne, of Columbus, Ohio. Suzie and David Keller of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, with whom she resided since 2004. Tommy Layne of Franklin Furnace. Eric and Kristi Rose Layne of Brookeville, Maryland. Grandchildren Mike and Lisa Mascari Justice of Hilliard, Ohio, David and Cortney Mascari of Charlotte, North Carolina, Chris and Kelly Kitts of Grandbury, Texas, Carey and Sheila Kitts of Abilene, Texas, Aaron and Marcy Layne of Westerville, Ohio, Matt Dierken, Jamie Keller, and Hilary Keller of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Ruairi and Hayley Keller Grant of Astoria, New York, Chuck and Roseanne Layne Lewis of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Brad Layne and Adam Layne of Brookeville, Maryland, Great-grandchildren Nathan Justice, Sofia and Roman Mascari, Kelci and Kadi Kitts, Carter, Jackson, and Wilson Kitts, Caden and Annabelle Layne, Landon and Caleb Lewis (and their unborn sibling). 'Mamaw' Layne was very proud of the fact that this family all started because of her. And so are we.

Services of celebration and remembrance will be under the direction of Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 South 6th St., Ironton, Ohio. Viewing and condolences at Tracy Brammer-Monroe will be Friday, July 18 from 6:00 – 8:00. The service by Pastor Eric Barnes, will be held at the First Baptist Church 304 South Fifth Street, Ironton, Oh 45638. Viewing at noon and service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19th with the burial at the Haverhill, Ohio Cemetery, Old U.S. Rt. 52. Donations may be made in memory of Pat to Operation Christmas Child and/or the Faith and Fitness Center both at First Baptist Church, 304 South 5th Street, Ironton, OH 45638.
