John Warden Redding

ROSEMOUNT-John Warden Redding, 67, of Rosemount, died Monday, August 25, 2014 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1947 in Portsmouth, to the late Kenneth Redding and Doris Warden Redding.

He was a lineman for AEP and retired after 40 years of service. He attended Christ's Community Church and was a member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. He was an Army veteran.

John is survived by his wife, Lela Jane Thacker Redding, whom he married on September 20, 1980 in New Boston; two daughters, Lyndsay (John) Wood of Columbus and Katie Redding at home; two brothers, David (Jane) Redding of Cincinnati and Jim (Cindy) Redding of Chapin, South Carolina; two sisters, Jolinda (Charles) Rockwell of Santa Barbara, California, and Jan Redding of Fort Myers, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

John loved his family; was a history buff and an avid reader. He also loved his dog, Lucy.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth with Pastor Rick Clark and Pastor Ralph Clay officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Detail of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Daehlers and one hour prior to the service.
