Gavin Edward Rupp

Gavin Edward Rupp, 13 of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, after an inspiring 30-month battle with cancer.

Gavin was born on Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Eagle Ridge Middle School. He was passionate about playing baseball and football and spending time with his friends. He was also an avid fan of Ohio State and the Washington Nationals. He was an exuberant young man that loved life and believed in paying forward.

Gavin leaves his loving family to cherish his memory including his parents, Chris and Sandy Ramsey Rupp; his brother, Ian and sister, Abby Rupp; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Jane Ramsey of Lucasville, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Larry and Sally Rupp of Lucasville, Ohio; his aunts and uncles, Mark Rupp, Dennis and Kathy Ramsey, Sigrid and John Wolford, Marsha and Howie Fraley; and five cousins including Mark Rupp Jr., Tracy Rupp, Lauren Wolford, Drew Wolford, and Aubree Fraley. Gavin was predeceased by his aunt, Carole Ramsey.

In Ashburn, the family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013, at Crossroads United Methodist Church, 43454 Crossroads Drive, Ashburn, Virginia, where funeral services will follow on Friday at 6 p.m.The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013, at Evangelical United Church of Christ, 701 Fifth Street in Portsmouth, where funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Roth officiating.

Interment will be held on Tuesday in Tyn Rhos Cemetery, near Rio Grande, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers: the family requests contributions be made in Gavin's memory to the Children's Hospital Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg, Va., and the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth.
