Charles H. Graddick Obituary
Graddick, Charles Henry Born October 20, 1942 to Willie Henry Graddick and the former Ethel Mae Farley in Hamilton, Georgia. Charles was affectionately known as "Charlie" to family and "Chuck" to friends and business associates. At age eight, Chuck relocated to Gary, Indiana with his mother and two brothers and began a lifelong love affair with the city and appreciation for the community. In this environment his leadership skills were nurtured under the tutelage of his mother's husband, Lonnie Will Jenkins, Sr. At an early age, Chuck accepted Christ and was baptized as a member of Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church, and later became a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Chuck graduated from Froebel High School in 1962.After graduation he joined the Air Force and served his country honorably in Vietnam and later as a Member of the military police stationed in the Philippines. Following a brief career in sales, he decided to further his education and began taking college courses at Indiana University Northwest majoring in business. While working and going to school, Chuck met the former Rosetta Corbett. After dating for several years, the two were married in 1969 and have shared their lives for the past 43 years. He received his Bachelor's degree from Indiana University and his J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law. Chuck was an avid golfer, a champion for the Chicago White Sox and a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Chuck was employed in several legal positions throughout the years, including operating his own law firm, but his true passion was serving as Gary City Court Judge. The ability to serve the community and give back in this fashion was both personally and professionally rewarding.
