Henderson Jr., Damon "Nick" Entered into mortal life on September 1, 1925 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, born to Damon Henderson, Sr., and Artelia (Eskridge) Henderson, the eldest of two sons. Preceding him in death were his parents and oldest son, Damon Henderson, III. Damon peacefully entered into eternal life, January 10, 2014. Cherished memories of the heart will remain with his loving wife of 43 years, Milbra (Moore) Henderson; mother-in-law, Nona L. Shootes; two children, Deacon Gregory (Dakota) Henderson and Darrolyn (Leon) Sharp; stepson, Kevin (Latahua) Gardner; brother, James Henderson; aunt, Frances Henderson-Johnson; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members whom he adored. He graduated from Roosevelt High School Class of 1947. Damon served his country in World War II, in the Army (1943-1945) and the Navy (1947-1948) was a decorated Officer and Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Henderson retired as a Foreman for American Steel Foundries after 43 years of employment and was a licensed chauffer for Exclusive Limousine Service for many years. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Trinity MB Church under the pastorate of Rev. W. H. Thomas, where served diligently as the President of the Usher Board for over 60 years. Under the leadership of Pastor Dwight A. Gardner, he was ordained as a Deacon and proudly served until he was called home. Damon enjoyed "LIFE" to the fullest; he enjoyed stylishly dressing, a clean automobile and had a contagious laugh. Visitation, Friday, January 17, from 12:00 (noon) to 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1831 Virginia St., Gary, IN; Family Fellowship 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Dwight A. Gardner, Interment Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, IN.
