Paris, Elizabeth Hildreth Elizabeth Paris was born on March 4, 1933, in Hammond, Indiana. She died peacefully in her home on March 28, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Elizabeth graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a bachelors degree in Education. She later obtained a Masters degree in Education from Roosevelt University in Chicago, and a certificate for teaching the intellectually gifted from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Elizabeth worked for over 30 years in the Gary Public School System. She taught at Beveridge Elementary School and in the gifted program at Tolleston Middle School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Glenwood, Illinois. Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Darlene Paris of Glenwood, IL, and Deidre Paris of Auburn, AL; a sister, Gladys Hildreth Stallings of Baltimore, MD (Mpls. MN.); three brothers, Eddie (Gladys) Hildreth of Baton Rouge, LA, Verdell (Delores) Hildreth of East Chicago, IN, and Jerry (Patricia) Hildreth of St. Paul, MN; an aunt, Ruth (Johnie) Williamson of Merrillville, IN and uncle, Marcus Garvey (Mae) Blackmon of Gary, Indiana; a cousin, Jewel Ann Jackson of New Orleans, LA, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Dillard Paris, Jr.; father and mother, Eddie and Bertina Hildreth; stepmother Beatrice Hildreth; aunt, Christine Jackson; sister, Donna J. Hildreth; and brother, David Erle Hildreth. All services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 801 E. Glenwood/Dyer Road, Glenwood, IL. Viewing will be from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Michael Fight officiating.
