My deepest condolences to the Meeks and Salinas families. I was heartbroken to hear the sad news. When our family moved to Gary, John lived a few houses away. He quickly befriended my brother and I and was our first friend in Gary. We were in school and played sports together. I remember John playing reggae on guitar. When he returned from the service we shared our Army experiences and I remember John talking about Olga and going to Jamaica. John was a true and loyal friend. May they all rest in peace.

My condolences to the Meeks family. I was a classmate of John at Edison High and West Side High and was truly sadden to hear of his passing. He was one of the nicest persons I knew. My GOD give his family strength as you mourn his passing.

Rest in peace John. I'll never forget the old days working with you at Mitchell and the more recent times at Bailly. We've been through good times and not so good times but you always had a positive outlook on everything. Gone but not forgotten.

I always told John he had the perfect last name because it described him to a tee. It is rare, to have the opportunity, to run across an individual like him. It was truly a pleasure to work, learn, & laugh with you...oh I can't forget about the meals, because we're not feeding girl scouts lol.
