MARLENE ELAINE POWERS Indianapolis, IN Age 32 years, formerly of Gary and Columbus, Ohio, and most recently an Indianapolis resident, passed away in Indianapolis, IN, on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Marlene was a 1993 graduate of West Side High School; 1998 Ohio State University graduate (BA) and a 2002 Franklin University graduate (MA). Marlene was preceded in death by grandparents, Willie Phelps Sr., Leolean and Mamon Powers Sr., and uncle, Cleophus Davis. She is survived by loving parents, Elaine and Mark Powers; sisters, Helene Powers and Alicia (Batiste) Haywood; 2 nephews who were the love of her life, Caden and Marc Avery; Miss Kitty, her 13 year old cat; Columbus mom, Dorene White; special friend, Tim Johnson; favorite cousin, Marcell Jackson and the Diva friends, Nikki, Brandi, Kenya, Tiffany, Fee Fee, Nicki, Darnita, Dione, Alisha; and numerous devoted aunts and uncles and over 80 loving first cousins; and a host of other relatives & friends. Marlene's life and love will be forever remembered. Two special visitations and funeral services: Visitation Friday, February 1, 2008, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1401 W. 20th Ave. Brother Edward Carter officiating. Followed by a reception at Phelps' Place, 529 E. 5th Ave. The second visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family Hour 6 - 8 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Funeral services Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at First A.M.E. Church, 2045 Massachusetts St. Rev. E. Vaughn officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Professional services rendered by Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc.
