Smock, William J. "Bill" Age 87, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Bill is survived by his children, William Smock, Mark (Debra) Smock, Jeanne (Mark) Helmerich, Matthew Smock, Philip (Susan) Smock, Janette (Tom) Wiseman, and Kate Smock; 14 grandchildren, Aaron (Megan) Smock, Rachel Smock and Veronica Suarez, Kiera, Julie and Joseph Smock, Sara and Amanda Helmerich, Jessie Smock, Josh, Tiffany and Alicia Smock, Tim and Jenny Wiseman; 3 great-grandchildren, Emiliano Suarez, Sara and William Smock; brother, David L. (Louise) Smock; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wirtz; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Therese (nee Wirtz). Bill graduated from Tolleston High School in 1945. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an avid reader of military history. Bill was a self-employed home builder for over 30 years in Crown Point. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church in Crown Point. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave./South St., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Matthias Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 101 W. Burrell Drive, Crown Point, IN, with Fr. James E. Wozniak officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Crown Point. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice Franciscan Communities or Catholic Charities.
