Peter Pacchetti Jr., 82, of Rochester, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Cottagewood Senior Community surrounded by his family.
Pete, the only son of seven children, was born Nov. 19, 1931, in Blackwell, Okla., to Peter and Helen Pacchetti. He grew up and attended high school in Mountain View, Calif., where he enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. Upon graduation, Pete joined the Air Force and continued serving for more than 26 years, traveling extensively throughout Europe while stationed in Germany with his wife, Carolyn. After retiring from the Air Force and completing his college degree, Pete founded a successful real estate company in Omaha, Neb.
He was an avid runner, finishing 12 marathons, including the Boston Marathon. He enjoyed traveling, especially Hawaii, camping, dancing and visiting family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, of 54 years; his children, Pam (Christy) Pacchetti in Oakland, Calif., and John (Sarah) Pacchetti in Rochester; grandchildren, Sofia, Juliet, Sam, Jack and Ella; and his sisters, Betty, Lanita and Karen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Helen; and his sisters, Velma, Teri and Norita.
Pete wished for his final resting place to be in California.
In lieu of a formal ceremony and flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation.
