Robert Luehmann Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 8, 2018.
Robert "Bob" Luehmann passed away at his rural Lewiston farm, and entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the age of 87. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Beverly, and their five children. In his life, Bob treasured love of God, family, and his country.

Bob was born on a rural Lewiston farm on March 23, 1930, to Theodore and Pauline (Prigge) Luehmann, and was a 1948 graduate of Lewiston High School. He honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1954 – 1956, with the rank of SP3. He married Beverly Blakeslee on September 1, 1957, and they enjoyed 60 years of wedded happiness together.

The most important part of Bob's life was his faith. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church – Silo, where he served as an elder and held various offices.

Bob took great pride in his dairy and crop farm north of Lewiston, and he was an avid supporter of anything John Deere. He also served as a director at Security State Bank in Lewiston for 30 years.

In his lifetime, Bob had many "loves." One love that topped his list was baseball, which he loved playing and watching. He also enjoyed music, and was a great singer. Living in the woods provided him a perfect opportunity to feed and watch birds. He treasured the time that he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of his most recent interests was the time he spent as the groundskeeper for the family vineyard.

Bob is lovingly survived by his wife, Beverly; children: Barb (Randy Gutzmann) Luehmann, Stillwater, MN; Becky (Marvin) Kreidermacher, Altura, MN; Brenda (Joel) Groskreutz, LaValle, WI; Blake (Jenifer) Luehmann, Lewiston, MN; and Beth (Jim) Postier, Kasson, MN; grandchildren: Landon (Krista) Kreidermacher; Loren (Leah) Kreidermacher; Layton Kreidermacher; Brooke (Dave) Kraus; Ashley Sand; Brieana (fiancé Corey Huck) Groskreutz; Amber (Hayes) Todd; Jill (Ben) Lundquist; Kayte (Ryan) Kreidermacher; Megan Luehmann; Sheldon Luehmann; Andre Postier; Aubrey Postier; and Anslee Postier; great-grandchildren: Avery and Levi Kreidermacher; Charlotte and Hudson Kraus; Brayden and Kennedy Todd; Zachary Lundquist; Jordyn, Clayton, and Logyn Kreidermacher; sister: Lois Wadewitz; sisters-in-law: Audrey Luehmann and Myrna Luehmann; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Adeline Lockman and Joan Wadewitz; brothers: Lester and Dennis Luehmann; and in-laws: Tracy Lockman, and Harold and Robert Wadewitz.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 8 PM on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church – Silo, rural Lewiston, and again at the church on Monday, March 12, 2018, from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM. The Reverend William Meilner will officiate.

Bob will be laid to rest in the church cemetery, with military honors.

Bob's family would like to thank the staff of Sauer Health Care in Winona for providing excellent care to Bob over the last three years. They would also like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of St. Croix Hospice, who helped Bob to spend his last days in the comfort of his home.
