Glenn L. 'Bud' Ranfranz, 85, of Rochester, formerly of rural Wabasha, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. He and his wife, Lois, had just recently moved back to Rochester to be near their family.

Bud was born July 17, 1928, in Rochester, the son of Leo and Ivy (Clarke) Ranfranz. He worked as a respiratory therapist for Mayo Clinic for over 35 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal and three Bronze Stars. He married Lois Rollins Sept. 11, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Claire.

Bud and Lois were members of St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. They enjoyed their time in Wabasha, overlooking the Mississippi River from their home. Bud was a loving and caring man who thoroughly enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Ranfranz, Rochester; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Judy Ranfranz; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Weist, Sandy and Maynard Underbakke and Judy and Ron Schaeffer all of Rochester; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Joel Jude Ranfranz, son-in-law, Steve Weist and sister, Myrtle Simmons.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11,  at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha, with the Rev. Milo Ernster officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 immediately following the service.

Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home Sunday, Nov. 10, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and on Monday one hour before the service.
