Keith Colmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 9, 2018.
Keith Burnell Colmer, 53, of Claremont, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Mayo Clinic, Saint Marys Campus due to complications from influenza and pneumonia.

Keith was born on Nov. 29, 1964, in Owatonna, the son of George and Eunice (Johnson) Colmer. He attended West Concord High School, graduating in 1983. After graduation, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. When he returned home he had a variety of jobs, including working on farms, driving truck and installing cable.

He was a kind and gentle man who would help anyone he met in any way he could. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Some words to describe Keith would be protector, writer, poet, photographer, collector, dreamer, inventor, and lover of nature. Anyone who knew Keith knew his love of life and people, which could only be equaled by his love of food.

He is survived by his brothers, Roger (Lee) Stennes of Owatonna, and Pete (Jane) Stennes of New Richland; sisters, Cindy (Troy) Hovland of Owatonna and Naomi (Brian) Bohlman of Dodge Center; nieces and nephews, Steven Stennes of Lake Mills, Iowa, Jennifer Thorson of Lake Mills,Ron (Karla) Stennes of Waseca, Minn., Sean (Christy) Seykora of Owatonna, Shannon Seykora of Bellingham, Wash., Ellen (Kirk) Aronson of Claremont, Dylan Hovland of Owatonna, Dalton (Tianna) Hovland of Owatonna, Alex (Jennifer) Anderson of Dodge Center, Madison Anderson of Dodge Center, Maxwell (Jess) Anderson of Dodge Center and Zachary (Kelli) Anderson of Dodge Center; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eunice; brother, Steven Stennes; sister, Donna Wallace; and several aunts and uncles.

Keith's leaving took a piece of all of us. To know him was to love him.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel, with the Rev. Reggie Klindworth officiating. Interment will be in the Moland Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kenyon, with military honors by the Claremont American Legion.
