Mildred Marie "Millie" (Schmidt) Dose, 95, of Rochester, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Madonna Towers Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

Millie was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Lake City, to Harry and Augusta (Kuhfuss) Schmidt. She attended school in Lake City, and was a nurse's aide at Lake City Hospital. On Oct. 1, 1947, she married George R. Dose at St. John's Catholic Church in Rochester. Beyond being a wonderful homemaker and mother, she was an Olmsted County Home Health Aide.
She was an active member at St. John's Catholic Church, participating in the choir and the Altar Society (C.C.W.). Millie enjoyed playing the piano and violin. Her grandfather had the Kuhfuss Orchestra, writing and composing all of the orchestra's music. She was also an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 92 of Rochester. She loved to travel, visiting places such as Rome and the Holy Land.
Millie is survived by her six children, George (Kathryn) Dose of La Crosse, Wis., Thomas (Suzanne) Dose of Denton, Texas, Douglas (Sandra) Dose of Rochester, Barbara (Ronald) Whynaucht of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., Lawrence (Kay) Dose of Rochester and Kenneth (Pamela) Dose of Rochester; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George (1997), a sister, Florence, two brothers, William and George and a great-grandson, Spencer.
A funeral Mass for Millie will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. James Russell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and one hour prior to the Mass. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. during the visitation.
