Mangor Krogstad, age 69 of Mapleview, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home. He was born May 30, 1945, in Arendahl, Norway, to Lars and Martha Krogstad. Mangor immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 3-years-old and grew up in Rochester. After his graduation from John Marshall High School, he became a union painter and worked with many Rochester contractors. Mangor married Joyce Thygesen on Sept. 12, 1969. The couple later divorced. His favorite pastimes were working on and restoring vehicles. He was a fix-it man. Mangor especially loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren and his dogs.

Survivors include his sons Erik (Shawn) Krogstad, of Rochester, and Andy (Melissa) Krogstad, of Byron; five grandchildren, Brandon, Sydney, Devin, Connor and Kelsey; a brother, Sidney Krogstad, of Petaluma, Calif., two nephews and many other relatives and friends locally and in Norway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Martha Krogstad; his brother, Leif; his sister-in-law, Beverly Krogstad; and one niece.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Macken Funeral Home Chapel in Rochester. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Macken Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorials in Mangor's memory can be directed to recipient of donor's choice or to the Krogstad family.
