Thomas Cuffel, 69, of Greeley, Colo., formerly of Longmont, Colo., died Monday, Aug. 12, 2014, in Louisville, Colo.

Thomas was born April 8, 1945, in Rochester, to Homer and Maybelle (Skanson) Cuffel. Thomas graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971, with time spent in Vietnam. On June 10, 1967, Tom married Muriel Ann Scherff in Worthington. Tom and Muriel lived in Longmont from 1977 until 1995, Littleton from 1995 until 2005, followed by a stay in Cheyenne, Wyo., before settling down in Greeley in 2009. Thomas was an engineer with AT&T and US West, retiring in 2005.
Thomas was of the Lutheran faith, he enjoyed motorcycles, shooting, woodworking and photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Muriel, on May 7, 2013.
Thomas is survived by four sons; Tim Cuffel of Denver, Colo., Matt Cuffel and Kimberly Hazlett of Longmont, Colo., Andrew Cuffel and wife, Liz of Longmont, Colo., and Mark Cuffel and fiancee, Bridget Bier of Loveland, Colo; daughter, Stephanie DeBolt of Parker, Colo.; two grandchildren, Lauren and Taylor; brother, Loren Cuffel; and two sisters, Lucine Reed and Sally Larsen.
Funeral service will be 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Faith Community Lutheran Church, viewing to be held before service at the church. Military honors to be rendered by the U.S. Navy and American Legion Post 32. Cremation to follow service at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
