Janet E. Crawford, 90, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Shorewood Commons in Rochester.

She was born April 13, 1923, in Scranton, Penn., to Sylvester and Anna Miller. Her family later moved to Endicott, N.Y., where she graduated a year before her class from Union-Endicott High School. In 1949, Janet married Marion A. Crawford, to whom she was married for 45 years until his death in 1994. Janet, Marion and family were transferred by IBM to Rochester in 1962. They were very involved in boating on Lake Pepin and traveled extensively when Marion was District Commodore of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Janet's favorite hobbies were shopping, antiquing and collecting jewelry. She continued to travel widely after Marion's death and was active in the widow's group, the Red Hat Society and groups at Shorewood.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy.
She is survived by four children, Barry (Kay) Crawford of Eagan and Carefree, Ariz., Brian (Bonnie) Crawford, Scott Crawford and Lori Crawford, all of Rochester; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Preston) Renstrom of Bloomington, Andy (Erin) Crawford of Galesburg, Ill., Brianna Crawford of Overland Park, Kan., Jillian (Aaron) Utley of Minneapolis and Christopher and Matthew Crawford of La Crosse, Wis.; and five great-grandchildren, Parker and Audrey Renstrom and Noah, Lucia and Cecilia Crawford.
The family is very grateful to the personnel of Seasons Hospice, Shorewood Commons and Comfort Home Health Care who cared so lovingly for Janet.
A reception celebrating Janet's life will be held at Shorewood Commons at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6.
Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice, Rochester.
