Fredric J. "Fred" Henry, 91, of Wabasha, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha.

He was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Parkers Prairie, the son of John and Clara Zimmerman Henry. Fred was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, majoring in anthropology. He taught for one year and then served in the U. S. Navy from 1942-1946. After his discharge, he worked as an engineer technician for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, working out of the St. Paul office. He retired in August 1979.
Fred was an active member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church where he served as organist for many years. He was also a member of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50. He was most proud of his membership in the Carnelian Lodge #40 of the Masonic Lodge. He was initiated into the Lodge on March 4, 1944, meaning he was a member for over 70 years.
He is survived by one nephew, P. J. "Jack" Odegard, Reno, Nev.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Odegard and Iona Lahmers, and one brother, Jack Henry.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the Kellogg United Methodist Church in Kellogg, with the Rev. Deanna Woodward officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, near Dover.
Military rites will be performed by the Wabasha American Legion Post #50, the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 and the Kellogg American Legion Post #546.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials are preferred to the Kellogg United Methodist Church.
